The standard procedure includes apical resection and retrograde cavity preparation filled with Mineral Trioxide Aggregate (MTA), a material appreciated for its biological and sealing properties but limited by prolonged setting times, challenging handling, and the presence of internal voids, as demonstrated by micro- CT analysis. These defects may compromise the seal, leading to periapical infections and ultimately treatment failure. To overcome these limitations, a simplified approach has been proposed, involving a 3 mm apical resection without retrograde cavity preparation.
To prevent bacterial penetration, this study evaluates three surface sealing materials (SSM) to be applied to the resected apical surface: Adhese Universal (AU), a universal adhesive with low cytotoxicity; One-Fil Putty (OF), a ready-to-use calcium silicate cement with high penetration; Geristore (Ge), a resin-modified glass ionomer indicated for root resorptions.
The null hypotheses are: 1) there are no differences between techniques with or without retrograde filling in terms of filling ability; 2) there are no differences in silver nitrate leakage volumes among the tested groups.

Per continuare la lettura gli abbonati possono scaricare l’allegato

The endodontic surgery is indicated in the management of persistent periapical lesions unresponsive to conventional treatment.
